“Wearing a black belt does not make you a super hero, and wearing a white belt does not mean you have little to offer as a person. It is what we do in the belts we wear, and not the belts themselves that matter.” “A black belt is nothing more than a belt, a piece of cloth.

Why Join the KAA ?

The Kajukenbo Association of America, Gaylord Method (KAA) is a trademarked Non-Profit Organization that represents an elite group of martial artists representing the style of Kajukenbo, specifically the Gaylord lineage. We all adhere to our groups Mission statement – “To create a family-based organization of like-minded martial artists to share the Gaylord Method teachings, combat principles and Kajukenbo concepts, allowing for individuation and self-growth that can be sustained through generations.”

We train, support, and respect one another and all accredited practitioners. We are a Hawaiian-based lineage who pays respect and homage to our Founder, Emperado and Great Grandmaster Charles H. Gaylord, the Pioneer who implemented the Gaylord Method to these concepts. We are humble and maintain the martial art values and traditions set forth by our leaders.

An elected Board of Directors, Great Grandmaster Melcor Chavez and Great Grandmaster James Juarez. lead the association, The Board of Directors also confer with Sr. Grandmasters, Grandmasters and official KAA Schools. The KAA tracks and maintains members’ credentials and ranks. As the only official association representing the Gaylord lineage, we provide accreditation and verifications for our members. We are also affiliated with the International Kajukenbo Congress (IKC), an organization comprised of all official Kajukenbo associations. The IKC also upholds and supports KAA accreditations.

KAA members receive special rates for all events, seminars, and merchandise. Members wear the KAA patch and feel pride knowing where their martial arts came from and what they represent.

In addition, you will remain connected with the overall KAA ‘Ohana.
